About this Event
This event will be an exploration of sound and music and how they affect and guide the experience of ayahuasca. It will be part lecture and storytelling, and part experiential. Discussed will be icaros, traditional instruments, and non-traditional instruments that are making their way into many Northern-influenced ayahuasca ceremonies. Instruments discussed will include drums, indigenous flutes, chakapa, and other ancient and modern instruments. The second part of the evening will be a Socratic dialogue of open-topic questions and answers with Richard, who will call on his many years of medicine experience for the answers, or more questions.

SPEAKER BIO:
Dr. Richard Grossman’s fascination with healing started quite early in his life, triggered, in part, by a severe childhood trauma. His spiritual search also started early. By the age of 15, he had concluded that the only reason to be alive was to help others out of their suffering. It was the beginning of his calling to the path of the healer. Richard has been a practicing Doctor of Asian Medicine since 1983, and has earned many advanced degrees, including a Master’s in Acupuncture, a Doctor of Oriental Medicine and a Ph.D. in Oriental Medicine. Shortly after this, his lifelong interest in healing emerged again, triggered by ayahuasca. Since then he has become recognized for the healing work he does in ceremonial settings. His work is a unique combination of traditional Amazonian shamanism, deep energetic healing, and sound healing.
